Inspiration
On a New Year’s Meditation Retreat, I created a drawing of the Labyrinth behind the lodge. This drawing was the beginning of this series.
Chartres Labyrinth
I began reading about the Chartres Labyrinth In France. Learning about the symbolism of this labyrinth fueled my creativity. The titles of the pieces came from my research.
The Process
After I learned about the significance of the angles and movements in the Labyrinth of Chartres, I realized that I would not be able to freely draw it. While creating this series, I made several stamps to use on my pieces.
Symbols
These works include many important symbols from my previous work, such as Sanskrit and doshas. Instead of a yoga pose, I thought about what one does in the labyrinth and decided that including a walking figure would complete the process.
